The story of Aetherrupt
Music became my language early on. Throughout school, I immersed myself in every music program I could find, first picking up the alto saxophone and performing on stage as a child. That love of live performance set the tone for everything that came next.
When I was seven, my father encouraged my sister and me to form our first band — The Von Barnes Band. What started as a family project quickly grew into a local sensation, known for its two young instrumentalists bringing surf music to porches, sidewalks, and festival stages. We even performed twice at the New York State Fair.
After that chapter came Past My Bedtime, a classic rock and metal-inspired band made up of family and friends. I played rhythm guitar, saxophone, and sang backing vocals while also handling lighting and stage production — an experience that ignited my passion for live audio and visual design. The band grew a dedicated following, performing more than 150 shows over three years.
The passing of key members, including our bass player and my grandmother on the same day in 2024, became a defining moment in my journey. Their influence on my life and music was profound, and their loss pushed me to reflect, rebuild, and explore new sounds.
That exploration led to the birth of Aetherrupt — a name blending “Aether”, the classical element and mythological concept of the pure upper air, with “rupt”, short for rupture — symbolizing the act of breaking through barriers. The project’s motto, “Rupture Our World,” embodies that spirit of transformation.
What began as experimenting with synths like Serum and Vital soon evolved into full productions. I released my debut album, “Open Eyes,” a project born from raw emotion and self-discovery. Initially intended to be an EP, the music grew beyond what I had planned — and so did Aetherrupt.
Today, I’m continuing to push boundaries and explore the depths of electronic music while carrying the roots of live performance that built me. My upcoming project, “Alter Ego – Vol. 1,” marks the next chapter of that journey.
Aetherrupt isn’t just music — it’s a rupture between what was and what can be.
